On July 21, members of the SMART-ME Tech team from the University of Girona (UdG) met with representatives of SMART-ME NET from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) at the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB).
The meeting served to review the progress in the connection between the Girona 500 I-AUV autonomous underwater intervention vehicle, from the UdG Research Center for Underwater Robotics, and the dynamic landers developed by the UPC’s Center for Technological Development of Remote Acquisition and Information Processing Systems (SARTI).
Although the mechanical and hardware interface, as well as the communication system between the lander and the I-AUV, were defined at the beginning of the project, the development has highlighted several aspects to be resolved and opportunities for improving the hardware. The UdG presented some of the prototypes developed and the experimentation calendar was adjusted for the 2026-2027 academic year, with the aim of validating all the systems.
